The LLISA Board of Directors held a meeting on May 28, 2013 to discuss a plan of action for replacing the Squaw Creek sluice gate. The board agrees that the sluice gate issue is urgent and we are committed to accomplishing the project relatively soon.
The first task is to obtain an itemized, specific proposal and cost estimate from Willie Frazee (Seawalls by Willie), who did the dam work in 2008. The deadline for this proposal is June 14, 2013. The board will then meet to review the proposal and then pursue other bids to ensure that we are getting the best price for the work.
Once we have an accurate cost estimate, the board will launch a fundraising campaign to engage a variety of stakeholders to include the Long Lake community, elected officials, private industry, and others.
